There are several questions that school Principals need to ask themselves.

-Are you a Principal who wants to deepen the  ability of your student leaders to make a difference?
-Do you really aspire  for your students to be young men and women of service, in the deepest sense of the word?
-Is the way your school fosters leadership with your SRCs, Prefects and other senior school students in keeping with that desire?
-How do I solve the problem of school bullying and improve peer mediation
-When relating with others, are your student leaders more concerned about their image, success and the special badge they wear , or with lending a hand to their peers?
-Do they seek to have power over their fellow students or empower them?
This is a key interest of a new approach for your student leaders called

 “Servant Leadership for Student Leaders”

Leadership has nothing to do with a particular position in a  pecking order. Being appointed an SRC or Prefect does not make you a leader. In truth we follow people because they are worth following for what they say and do.

The servant leader is principally a servant of the school seeking to be of assistance rather than to control. Servant leaders exercise openness . They are trustworthy, authentic, caring, compassionate, inclusive, and courageous. They exhibit ‘emotional intelligence’ and help create a community culture of trust . Student leadership helps eradicate problems such as school bullying through peer mediation

The Servant Leader Model is a leadership approach fit for the new century and organisation of the future and by incorporating it into your school this leadership approach can result in an astonishing increase in zest, creativity, and productivity while bonding people into communities of caring.

The training is conducted for 10 to 20 senior students on a one or two day basis. However, this program is so flexible and adaptable that other variations can be negotiated.

These programs provide solutions to the problem of the school bully, aid with giving students leadership qualities and improve peer mediation.

Dear Phil,
Thankyou for providing us with a very valuable session on speaking in public.  When students presented their orals on Friday it was evident that some of the students, who weren't too nervous, were putting into place advice you had given on Wednesday.  A couple of the students, who are quieter students, presented orals that were confident, well prepared and made good use of their voice.

Students, through their journals, commented positively on your session and were able to identify most of the points you provided on good speaking.

Thankyou once again for taking the time to speak to our group of students.

Regards,

Tailoring the Servant Leadership Training for Christian Schools

The best, most solid new approach is actually an ancient approach – servant leadership, encouraged by leaders of the world’s great religions like Gandhi, Buddha, and the Dalai Lama.  They all offer us a common message, that we are called to serve others and that service is a path that connects us and empowers us.

Of course, Jesus was a great example of servant leadership.  And on his last day on earth, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples (John 13: 4-17).  He told them that he had been among them as a servant, and they should do likewise.  They should not seek to lord it over others, but rather, to serve (Mark 9: 33-35).

The Program

The Program is completely tailored to your needs. Through questionnaires and phone interviews conducted prior to the training , my program is for your school therefore no school’s program is the same. Material like Vision and Mission, Public Speaking, Conflict Resolution, How to run meetings and eliciting compliance from peers when need be, can all be covered. Reconcile Conflict Education & Mediation is so flexible that it can spend a whole day on any one of those topics or conduct mini sessions on all of them. Conflict Resolution and management skills is the only ‘core’ or common topic in all programs.

Students receive individualized manuals and certificates of completion at the end of the day. The school also receives a certificate.

All of us at Reconcile Conflict Education & Mediation invite you to make further enquiries.
